Bible teacher Marilyn Hickey has learned one lesson wherever she goes - people have the same worries.
"Their families, their health, and of course, their finances. That is pretty worldwide," she said during a phone interview from Denver, the headquarters for her international Marilyn Hickey Ministries.
But through the Bible, people can "know that there is an answer to their problems," she said.
Mrs. Hickey is a minister's wife with a gift for teaching Scripture, which has spilled over into radio and television ministries, conferences and 98 books in English and foreign-language editions. She will lead a faith encounter at Whole Life Ministries this week.
Mrs. Hickey's daughter, Sarah Bowling - the "Sarah" of Today with Marilyn and Sarah, which airs on WBPI-TV (Channel 49) and Trinity Broadcast Network-Comcast (Channel 12) weekly - will accompany her mother to Augusta.
She will speak at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at the church, 2621 Washington Road. The conference will start at 6 p.m. Sunday and continue at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.
Mrs. Hickey's approach is to take topics apart step-by-step, but only part of the material will be covered in group sessions. To complete a study, attendees must work on their own after a conference. People can drop in for one or all five sessions, Mrs. Hickey said.
She said she enjoys teaching the Bible. "It changes people's lives. I like the transformation that happens to people."
