CHARLESTON, S.C. - South Carolina recorded three goals in the first period en route to its 5-1 East Coast Hockey League win over the Augusta Lynx at North Charleston Coliseum on Friday night.
The win continues the Stingrays' unbeaten mark of 5-0. South Carolina converted on four of five power-play opportunities in the game, and the Lynx were unsuccessful on all eight of their chances. Stingrays netminder Kirk Daubenspeck stopped 31 of the 32 shots he faced during the match.
Peter Armbrust, Matt Desrosiers and Mike Jickling all scored in the first to give South Carolina a 3-0 lead. The third unanswered goal chased Augusta rookie goalie Geoffrey Faulkner.
The Lynx travel back to Columbia at 7:05 today to face the Inferno.
