Five out of seven days, I walk approximately two miles per day in an area from Bungalow Road to Lumpkin Road in south Augusta.
As I walk on different streets, I can't help but notice that so many houses and properties are in bad condition. Many lawns are at least six inches to one foot high. Many houses need repairs, and cars are parked on lawns and out in the street. Trash, toys, etc., are everywhere.
Many houses are privately owned, and many are rental properties. Real estate owners should demand that their properties be kept in good condition. Owners should take pride in their properties, and keep them looking good. It takes very little money and time to correct this problem. This is just one of many problems south Augusta has.
For those who don't take the responsibility, it's a sure sign that they don't care for themselves and others who live around them. Property has depreciated and will continue to as long as we don't do our jobs (you know who you are). What a shame.
I am not accusing everyone, because there are many homes that are being well kept. Good job. We can't complain now, because we have Richmond County Solid Disposable. All waste can be picked up. Let's all work together and make our area a better place to live.
