Rev. Ted Adkins (LINCOLNTON, Ga.)

LINCOLNTON, Ga.- Rev. Ted McWhorter Adkins, 73, of Partridgetown Rd., entered into rest Sunday, September 15, 2002 at Georgia War Veterans Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday,September 18, 2002 at Lincolnton Baptist Church with the Revs. Gary Johnson and Dan Hodges officiating. interment will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Stephens, Ga. Rev. Adkins was a member of Lincolnton Baptist Church, a former Emergency Medical Service Director and employee of Rees Funeral Home. He was a retired minister having served at Cave Springs Baptist Church of Jefferson, Ga., Persimmon Baptist Church of Clayton, Ga., Ingold Baptist Church of Ingold, N.C., Dudley Baptist Church of Dudley, Ga., Saxon Heights Baptist Church of Dublin, Ga., Salem Baptist Church of Lexington, Ga., Goshen Baptist Church and New Hope Baptist Church of Lincolnton, Ga. He received his graduate degree at Truett-McConnell College, Bachelor of Arts degree at Mercer University and Bachelor of Divinity at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminar. Survivors include three sons; William Jimmy Adkins of Marietta, Ted M. Adkins, Jr. of Jonesboro and Michael Y. Adkins of Greensboro, N.C.; one step daughter; Mary Ellen Brantley of Martinez; two sisters; Gloria A. Wilson of Lincolnton and Nancy A. Staab of Alpharetta; seven grandchildren; Natalie A. Shirley, Danyel Adkins, Chassidy Adkins, Ted M. Adkins III, Mitchell Lewis Adkins, Matthew Adkins, Christian M. Adkins, and one step grandson, Daniel Owen Brantley. He was preceded in death by his wife Mitty Gassaway Adkins, but was first married to JoAnn M. Adkins. Pallbearers will be Larry Campbell, Mike Early, Mil Hamrick, Bobby Joe Partridge, Page Prater, Marcy Remsen and Dr. Walter Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Holloway, Talmadge Reed and Alex Willingham. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at Rees Funeral Home, 195 Peachtree St., Lincolnton, Ga.
