GROVETOWN, Ga. -James "Jim" D. Leppard, age 52, of Grovetown passed away, Thursday afternoon, September 5, 2002, at Doctors Hospital. A native of Pomona, Calif., he had resided in the Augusta area for many years. Jim had been a Police and Public Safety Officer for the City of Grovetown since July of 1986. He was a US Army Veteran serving in the Korean and Vietnam Conflict, being discharged from Ft. Gordon as an E-5. He was a Catholic by faith. He is survived by his son, Richard Leppard; his daughter, Barbara Leppard; one granddaughter, Yona- Michelle Leppard; and his former wife, Yona Chang, all of Martinez. Funeral services will be at 2p.m., Monday, September 9, 2002, from the Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 4255 Columbia Road with Reverend Bill Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens, Grovetown. Pallbearers will be his son, Richard Leppard, friend, Tom Markwith, Sr., and Officers of the City of Grovetown Public Safety Department, PSO Henry R. Taylor, Sgt. Mark Albright, PSO Richard Martin, Cpl. Robert Eastman, PSO Michael B. Addenbrook and PSO Robert W. Banks. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
