AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Thursday, August 29, 2002, Mr. James Busby Thompson, 78. Mr. Thompson began his career as an award winning route salesman for Pepsi-Cola in Georgia. He moved to Binghamton, N.Y., in 1953 where he was associated with American Furniture for more than 20 years. He was the owner/operator of Jims Sandwich Shop in Augusta for many years. He is survived by his sons, David Thompson, Mark Thompson and Robert Thompson, all of Syracuse, N.Y. and Richard Thompson of Arlington, Va.; his wife, Robertina Thompson died in 1981; daughters, Anne Cunningham of Austin, Texas and Mickey (Deloria) Newman of Martinez; and their deceased mother, Katie Mae Sullivan of Columbia, Mary Dixon, a long time friend and her children Sheila and Grady of Sardis; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his wife, Jean of Augusta, died in 1989. Private interment services will be Monday, September 2, 2002, at 2p.m. in the Orange Hill Cemetery in Hawkinsville, with Rev. Michael Davenport officiating.
