AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Verdell Malvin "Del" James Jr., 51, beloved husband of Catherine Thompson James entered into rest on Thursday, August 29, 2002, at the Medical College of Georgia. Funeral services will be held 3p.m. Saturday, August 31, 2002, at Poteet Funeral Homes, South Chapel with Rev. C. W. Edwards and Rev. Perry Shelfer officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Larry Hall, Phillip Heath, Edward Heath, Charles Rosier, Jimmy Sweat, Billy Goodson, Lukie Martin and Charles Wildes. Honorary pallbearers will e members of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 150. Survivors include his wife, two sons and daughter-in-law, Troy Malvin (Brandi) James, Hephzibah and Christopher Heath James, Augusta; father, Verdell Malvin James Sr., Augusta; sister and brother-in-law JoAnn (Danny) Tapley, Augusta; nephew, Matthew Tapley and niece Jessica Tapley. Mr. James was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Mattie Rosier James. Mr. James was employed at SRS as a Sketcher with BECHTEL, a charter member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church, other memberships include V.F.W. Windsor Spring Road, Briar Creek Sportsman Club. He was also involved in Masters City Little League, JATC Apprenticeship (Chairman) and Instructor at Local 150. Poteet Funeral Homes, South Chapel 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta.
