Joe Scott might not have much longer to serve as interim chairman of the Augusta-Richmond County Coliseum Authority.
On Friday, State Rep. Jack Connell asked members of Augusta's Legislative Delegation for nominations to fill three authority positions, including Mr. Scott's seat, which expired in March 1998.
The 12-member authority currently has nine members, operating short-handed with the recent resignations of legislative appointees Jack Usry and Quincy Murphy and Augusta Commission appointee Annie Rogers.
The recent rash of resignations comes at a time of tumult for the authority. Three August meetings were rendered unofficial when a quorum of seven members failed to show up, and several members say they won't attend as long as Mr. Scott is making the agenda.
Mr. Connell also asked delegation members for nominations to fill one spot each on the General Aviation Commission, the Personnel Board and the Board of Tax Assessors. Nominations are due by Sept. 18.
