AIKEN, S.C. - Mrs. Patricia Jane Smith Bisschop, 74, of Wise Creek Lane, Aiken, died August 24, 2002, at Aiken Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. August 31, 2002, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. David Cozad and Rev. Martha Ebel officiating. Interment will follow in the church columbarium. Survived by her beloved husband, Henry Peter Bisschop and sister, Nora Cramer, Aubum, Ind. Mrs. Bisschop and her husband moved to Aiken in 1977 from West Springfield, Va., active in Town and Country Club where she served as president in 1980 and 1981, member of the Board of the Friends of the Aiken County Historical Museum and served on the Board of the Aiken Symphony Guild, past president of the Aiken Choral Society, during the Aiken Sesquicentennial in 19685 she served as Chairman of all Womens activities, was a member of First Presbyterian Church, church choir, active in Presbyterian Women and an Elder in the church. Along with her pastor, Rev. Dr. William Johnston, Pat helped organize Area Churches Together Serving (ACTS) Inc., which opened August 4, 1986. For four years Pat was the director and manager. She served on the Quality of Life Committee in Aiken County, and was the Aiken Coordinator for the monthly distribution of the food to Senior Citizens. When that committee was dissolved in December of 1994, Pat organized a program so that ACTS could take over the monthly distribution. In 1987 Pat was presented the Kalmia Toastmasters award for Outstanding Achievements and Contributions to Communication Excellence. In 1989 she was the Aiken Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year. She was a member of Houndslake Country Club and Foxchase Garden Club. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to ACTS, 340 Park Avenue, Aiken, SC 29801.
