HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Sgt. Jack E. Johnson, II, 25, of Mims Road, died Wednesday, August 21, 2002, in McAlester, Okla. from injuries received in an automobile accident. Sgt. Johnson was a native of Richmond County, and a life long resident. He was a 1995 graduate of A.R. Johnson High School and of the protestant faith. Sgt. Johnson had served four years with the U.S. Marines and was on active duty with the U.S. Army National Guard. He was stationed in McAlester, Okla. Survivors include his parents Jack and Lynda Johnson of Hephzibah; his sister, Kristin Johnson of Hephzibah; and a brother Matthew "Matt" Johnson of Hephzibah; maternal grandparents Lucille and Charles Hamill of Kinston, Tenn. Sgt. Johnson was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Rozzie and Willard Johnson of Sardis. Funeral services will be held at 4p.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2002, at the Chapel of DeLoach Funeral Home, Waynesboro, with US Military Chaplain and Tracy Walker officiating. Burial will be at Westover Memorial Park, Augusta, with full military honors accorded. Marine Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Glenn Johnson, Adam Patterson, Heath Meador, T.J. Godbee, Timmy Jackson and Keith Osborn.
