Regarding recent letters assassinating the character of Dr. Bonnie Bragdon, director of Augusta's Animal Control facility:
My neighbor's German shepherd had been missing for a week, and she asked me if I would go to animal control to see if her dog had been picked up, as they are closed when she gets off work.
I went out there and talked to Dr. Bragdon, and she took me through the dog pens and showed me every dog that she had, male and female. I did not see my neighbor's dog, so Dr. Bragdon took my name and phone number and said she would leave word with her people to call me if a black female German shepherd was picked up.
Plus, she checked the logs to see if a female German shepherd had been picked up in the past month.
Dr. Bragdon is doing a great job out there. In a thankless job, she is doing the best she can do with what she has to work with. Our county government said it would build a new facility, but that went down the tube when the so-called budget shortfall came about last year.
Keep up the good work, Dr. Bragdon, and keep the faith. I have confidence in what you are doing.
Charles M. Davis Sr., Augusta
