TUCKER, Ga. - Jennie Rivers Cook of Tucker died August 22,2002 at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. J. Edward Cook, former pastor of Harlem Baptist Church, Harlem. Jennie Cook was born in Grange near Louisville. She graduates from the Womens College of Georgia at Milledgeville. Jennie and Edward were married on August 17, 1941 and they moved to Harlem in 1952, where they called home until the 1970s. As her three children reached school age, she returned to teaching (1956) and continued teaching in the Harlem Elementary School for 20 years. After retirement, the couple moved the Tucker area. They became active members of Clarkston Baptist Church. Following Rev. Cooks death on December 12,1987, Jennie joined Briarlake Church, where she remained a member until her death. Even recently folks from Briarlake Baptist Church visited Jennie at Meadowbrook Nursing. She is remembered lovingly for her Christian service as a pastors wife, teacher, and volunteer in hospital and other Christian and community organizations. She is survived by three grown children, Faye C. Wainscott of Raleigh, N.C., Kaye V. Cook or Iswich, Mass., and James F. Cook of Atlanta; and five grandchildren, Jennie and Caleb Cooks-Kollars and Daniel, Joy and Judy Cook. Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2002, Dr. J. Hoffman Harris officiating. Interment Floral Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either Annie Armstrong Offering, North American Mission Board, 4200 North Point Parkway, Alpharetta, GA 30022, or the Lottie Moon Offering, International Mission Board, 3806 Monument Avenue, Richmond, VA 23230. The Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at A.S. Turner and Sons.
