Having been an Aiken community member for more than 10 years, I've seen quite a bit of political bantering and posturing regarding Savannah River Site, but this South Carolina governor takes the cake.
How many times does Gov. Jim Hodges need to be shown the answer to his election-rebidding question to get it? How often does his mug need to show up in our local and not-so-local editorial cartoons until he gets the message that everyone knows he's only looking out for his political career and not our health and welfare.
Maybe he should spend some time with us in our communities surrounding SRS to realize we actually like living here and enjoy the raised standards of living.
Maybe if he spent more time working to improve our school systems and roads, people like me might actually consider voting for him this fall. As it is, I wouldn't vote for him even if no other candidate was running. I'm not the only one who feels this way.
You've fought the good fight, Gov. Hodges. Now put your energies into doing your job - while you still have one.
