AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest August 9, 2002, at University Hospital, Mr. Clark Stokely, 62, of Augusta. Family members include daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and David Grimm, Brenda and Reid Carter; brother, Tim Stokely; grandchildren, Keith Axelson, Ashlyn Grimm, Michael Grimm, Anna Grimm, Cray Carter, Bailie Carter; and lifelong friend and former wife, Sheila Stokely. Mr. Stokely is a native of Memphis, Tenn., but lived most of his life in Augusta. He was a lifelong member of St. James United Methodist Church. He retired as branch manager of Bankers Life and Casualty Insurance Company and was previously employed as the circulation manager at the Augusta Chronicle. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. An accomplished musician, he performed in numerous bands throughout the CSRA, entertaining music lovers with the beautiful sound of his saxophone. A chapel service will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2002, at 10a.m. at Thomas Poteet and Son Chapel with Rev. Randy Dunaway and Rev. Ricky Stokely officiating. Pallbearers will be Keith Axelson, Michael Grimm, Ray Hutto, Bobby Copeland, Wyman Young, and Donnie Malone. Burial will be in Boneville United Methodist Church Cemetery in Boneville, at noon on Tuesday. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8p.m. at the funeral home.
