Ms. Enise Kirby (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Enise Rawl Kirby, 84, entered into rest July 23, 2002, at Salem Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Augusta. Ms. Kirby as born in Atlanta, December 14, 1917, a daughter of the late Alison Joel Kirby, Sr. and Clara Enise Rawl Kirby. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 27, 2002, at 11a.m. at Poteet Funeral Home, 529 Greene Street with the Rev. Todd Teller officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Ms. Kirby is survived by a niece, Ann Kirby Clark of North Haven, Conn.; nephew, Joel S. Kirby of Moneta, Va.; eight great nieces and nephews and eight great grand-nieces and nephews; a special friends Myrtle Scogin, Nancy and Phil Hedges all of North Augusta; and Coral Holt of Augusta. She was predeceased by her brother Alison Joel Kirby Jr., and her nephew John S. Kirby. Enise was a resident of St. John Towers, Greene Street, from 1979 until 2001. She was a graduate of Tubman High School in 1937, and received a diploma from Christian Writers Institute of Chicago in 1956. Her articles were published in "The Christian Observer", "The Presbyterian Journal" and "Day by Day". Enise joined the First Presbyterian Church of Augusta in 1936. She was a member of the Trinity Bible Class. She taught Sunday School and for several years worked in the book store of the church. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10a.m. until service time at Poteet Funeral Home, 529 Greene Street, Augusta.
