Outdoors calendar

NOTE: All the listed events are open to the public, although membership in some organizations might be required.

TODAY: Augusta Southern Nationals will conclude today at Riverfront Marina beginning at 9 a.m. Admission is $15. Call 724-2452 for more details.

WEDNESDAY-SUNDAY: Quail Unlimited's Annual Wildlife Exposition will be held at the Atlanta Sheraton Hotel with exhibits, seminars, and other events. Call (803) 637-5731, Ext. 23, for details or go to www.qu.org/events.

SATURDAY: CSRA Gundog Beagle Club will hold a BBQ & Trade Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Winfield Community Center on Georgia Highway 150 near Mistletoe State Park. The event is free, and the public is invited to buy or trade hunting dogs and supplies. Barbecue plates are $5. Call (706) 595-4853.

SUNDAY: Fall Line Archery Club will hold its July shoot. The registration deadline is 2 p.m. The club is off Highway 15 behind Randy Helton Housing. Call (478) 348-4609 for details.

SATURDAY, AUG. 3: Swamp Saturday will be held at 9:30 a.m. at Phinizy Swamp Nature Park. The 2 1/2 -mile walk features scenic, wildlife-laden terrain. Bring binoculars and bug spray. Call 828-2109 for details about the free event.

THURSDAY, AUG. 1-SUNDAY, AUG. 4: The Atlanta Buckarama will be held at Atlanta Expo Center, Interstate 285 at Exit 55. Admission is $7 and $4 for children 6-12. Parking is free. Exhibits include the world-record whitetail mount, a collection of North American big game and hundreds of other mounts, exhibits and product booths. Proceeds benefit the Georgia Wildlife Federation. TUESDAY, AUG. 6: A Dusk Walk in Phinizy Swamp Nature Park will begin at sunset. The cost is $3 for members and $5 for nonmembers. Call 828-2109 for details.

MONDAY, AUG. 12: A Meteor Walk in Phinizy Swamp Nature Park will begin at 9 p.m. The Perseids meteor shower is expected to generate 80 meteors per hour. Hike two miles to a remote area, and enjoy the show. The cost is $3 for members and $5 for nonmembers. Call 828-2109 for details.

SATURDAY, AUG. 17: A guided trip to observe egrets, other wading birds and the endangered Wood Storks at Silver Bluff Audubon Sanctuary will begin at 8 a.m. Call (803) 827-0781 for details.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 5-SATURDAY, SEPT. 7: The Quail Unlimited/Realtree Celebrity Dove Shoot includes three days of hunting, dining and entertainment in Augusta and the South Carolina counties of Edgefield and Allendale. Call (803) 637-5731 for ticket/sponsor information.

THE FORT GORDON Sportsman's Club meets on the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. Membership is open to the public. The shooting range (7A) will be open to the public for firing and zeroing in rifles. A 3-D archery range also is available. The cost is $6 per person ($3 to club members).
