THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Bertha W. Black, 94, widow of Rev. W. M. Black, died Friday, July 19, 2002. A memorial service will be at 3p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2002, in the Dearing United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Huycke, Robert Reese, and Joe Faulkner officiating. Mrs. Black, a native of Butts County, had lived in Thomson for many years. She was a retired School Teacher. She was a member of the Sigma Chapter of the Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher Sorority. She was a member of the Dearing United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by three children, T.G. Black, Susie Mae Clerc, and George W. Black. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Carolyn Black, Thomson; a daughter, Nelle Whisenant, Aiken; two granddaughters, Tamara Black Hammond and Jamie Black Hart; and three great grandchildren. The family request no flowers and that donations be made to the Dearing United Methodist Church. Friends may call at the residence of Thomas and Carolyn Black, 820 Central Road or the Curtis Funeral Home.
