AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. James Winston Chandler, age 49, entered into rest Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at his residence. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 20, 2002, at 4p.m. at Bayvale Baptist Church with Dr. Kenneth Carvalho officiating. Burial services will be private. Mr. Chandler, a native of Atlanta, had lived in Augusta for most of his life. He was a charter member of the CSRA Sports Car Club, a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and a member of Bayvale Baptist Church. During the 1980s, Mr. Chandler taught Sunday School in the preschool department and served on the church Homecoming Committee. During that time he helped establish Cub Scout Pack 107 of the Boy Scouts of America. He served as Pack Leader and Den Leader. Mr. Chandler, along with his late mother, also worked part-time as a caterer. He was a local mechanic. Mr. Chandler is survived by two sons, David A. Chandler and John M. Chandler; a daughter-in-law, Barbara G. Chandler; a grandson, David A. "DJ"Chandler Jr., and his father, James W. "JW" Chandler, all of Augusta. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother, Eleanor D. "Lena" Chandler. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Bayvale Baptist Church, 2240 Bayvale Road, Augusta, Ga. 30909. The family will receive visitors at the church one hour prior to the service.
