WAYNESBORO, Ga.- Mr. William L. (Billy) Usher, 79, of Waynesboro died Monday, July 15, 2002, at his residence. His funeral will be at 11 a.m Thursday, July 18, 2002, at Greens Cut United Methodist Church with Dr. Francis Ford officiating. Interment will be at Burke Memorial Gardens, Waynesboro. Mr. Usher was a native and lifelong resident of Burke County. He graduated from Waynesboro High School and attended University of Georgia. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving in France during World War II. He served 3 terms on the A. S. C. Committee and 35 years on Production Credit Association. He was a retired farmer and a member of Greens Cut United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Sarepta (Tippie) Usher; two sons, William L. Usher, Jr. (Bill) of Waynesboro, and David E. Usher of Alpharetta, Ga; a daughter-in-law, Brenda P. Usher; three grandchildren, Brandice Elizabeth Quick, William P. Usher and Jackson David Usher; two great-grandchildren, Leslie Michelle Quick and Austin Quick; one sister, Margaret Usher Rhodes and her husband, Frank Rhodes of Jacksonville, Fla; and one brother, Mike Usher of Waynesboro. He was preceded in death by his parents, William E. and Lorena M. Usher, and two brothers, Hugh Usher and Sterling Usher. Active pallbearers will be Chuck White, Tommy Bryan, Ken Huff, Grady Mobley, Spencer Ready, Jerry Sharpe, Chris Kennedy, Henry Griffin, Perry Mitchell, and Paul Shivers, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Otis Knight, Fred Chambers, Tommy Cummings, Robert Fountain, Henderson Upchurch, John Jackson, Dr. Randy Hensley, George Young, Billy Fulcher ,Dwayne Cunningham and Douglas Saxon.
