AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Janet Murga, beloved wife of Lt. Col. (Ret.) Jesse A. Murga passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2002, at Eisenhower Medical Center after a five year battle with Alzheimers disease. Funeral services will be conducted from the Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road Chapel at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 2002. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mrs. Murga was a native of Japan and came to this country as a young wife in 1952 and she has lived in Augusta since 1966. She was a housewife. In the 1970s she was a Red Cross Lady at The Fort Gordon U.S. Army Hospital. In addition to her husband, she is survived by six children, five daughters, Michiyo Turns, Greenwood, Ind., Jane Cooke, Grovetown, Kathy Lamb, Atlanta, Nancy Newton Evans, Dr. Margie Menendez, Missoula, Mont.; one son, Jesse Murga, Belvedere, S.C.; two sisters, Kazuko Munechiko, and Takae Imamura, both of Japan; one brother, Suga Hajime, also of Japan; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
