AIKEN, S.C. - Funeral services for Gilbert Edward Day will be held Friday, July 19, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Rivers Funeral Home with Rev. Derrick Strickland officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic Rites. Mr. Day, 65, of Saddlebred Loop, Aiken, beloved husband of Martha Huckabee Day, died Tuesday at his residence. He was the son of the late Emanuel C. and Doris Morgan Day and was a lifelong resident of Aiken. He was a retired brick mason and a security officer with Surveillance Security Private Law Enforcement Co. He was a member of North Aiken Church of God and the Aiken Masonic Lodge #156. Also surviving are a daughter, Darlene Giddens, Aiken; a son, Gilbert Day II, Aiken; a step-son, Robert Cooper, Aiken; a step-daughter, Tammy Boyd, Aiken; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include four brothers, J. C. Day, Lexington, Donald Day, Aiken, Terry Day and William Day, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; five sisters, Betty Day, Aiken, Frances Kennedy, Graniteville, Leona Clark, Wagener, Ammer Gean Huber, Jacksonville, Fla. and Linda Mills, Aiken. Pallbearers will be Hal Baughman, Trent Harrelson, Bill Herron, Lester Herron, Brian Wright, and Monty Murrell. A visitation with the family will be this evening, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may call at the residence.
