HISTORY SERIES: The guest speaker for July's Brown Bag History Series at the Augusta Museum of History will be Jack Steinberg, a native of Augusta who will speak about the history of the Walton Way Temple. DEMOCRATIC WOMEN: The League of Democratic Women will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, 640 Broad St. The guest speaker will be Bo Hunter, a candidate in the 96th District Georgia House of Representatives race. The meeting is open to the public. For more information, call 731-9525.
TORCH ARRIVAL: The Better Hometown Committee and the Jenkins County Family Enrichment Commission will hold a Jenkins County Patriotic Celebration in conjunction with the arrival of the Georgia Games Torch in Millen. The celebration will begin at 6 p.m. at the county's courthouse and will include food, entertainment, a book swap and readings for children. The torch is scheduled to arrive at the courthouse at 6:45 p.m. A ceremony to celebrate the send-off of the torch to Augusta is planned for 9 a.m. Friday at the courthouse.
WINE TASTING: Wine World in North Augusta will have a drop-in wine tasting from 5 to 8 p.m. at the store, 106 Georgia Ave. Summer wines and a selection of fine cheeses will be featured. The tasting is open to the public. For more information, call 279-9522.
