ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Braves agreed to terms Tuesday with first-round pick Jeff Francoeur.
Francoeur, 18, was selected as the 23rd overall pick in last month's draft. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution said he received a $2.2 million signing bonus - more than some players who were drafted before him.
Francoeur also had signed an athletic scholarship with Clemson University. He batted .443 with 55 home runs and 164 RBIs in his career at Parkview High School in Lilburn, Ga.
Francoeur, a future outfielder, was assigned to Danville, Va. of the Rookie Advanced Appalachian League.
He helped Parkview to consecutive baseball and football state championships the past two seasons as an outfielder and a defensive back.
