AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest on Friday, July 5, 2002, Mr. William A. Whitten of, Hillsinger Road, Augusta. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Anne Carter Whitten. Survivors include a daughter, Patty W. Fiegel of Plano, Texas; a son, William A. Whitten Jr. of Augusta; two sisters, Geneva Faust of Tampa, Fla., and Reba Meyer of Brooksville, Fla.; and two grandchildren. Mr. Whitten was born in Tampa, Florida to the late Guy A. and Edith Kersey Whitten. He retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of Master Sergeant, having served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War during his 22 years in service. He was a member of the L.B.C. American Legion Post #153 and was a Baptist. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Hatcher Funeral Home with the Chaplain Major Ken Bellinger officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will be held at Langley Cemetery. Friends may call tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hatcher Funeral Home, U.S. Hwy. #1, Langley, S.C.
