CPT. Lloyd Collins (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest on Wednesday, May 26, 2002, at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Captain Lloyd A. Collins, US Army Retired, 63, husband of Mrs. Betty Collins of Cider Lane, Augusta. He was preceded in death by his father: Lloyd H. Collins and a brother: David Collins. Funeral services will be held at the Fleming Church of God, today at 1:30 p.m., with Chaplain (CPT) Brian L. Mead, Chaplain (LTC) Charles Howell, the Rev. Ken Young and the Rev. Tom Milligan officiating. Mr. Collins will lie in state from 12:30 p.m., until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park with full military honors. Survivors include his mother, Virginia G. Collins; children, Sharon Yvonne Howell, Lloyd Andrew Collins, Jr., Karen Teresa Patton, Virginia Hagy, Kimberly Walker; sisters, Glenna Lowe, Lavonna Collins; brothers, Johnny, Darryl, Michael and Larry Collins; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Collins, a native of Knoxville, TN, had lived in the Augusta area since 1978. He served two tours in Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star (1OCL), Purple Heart (1OLC), Vietnam Cross of Gallentry with Silver Star, Army Commendation Medal (4OLC), Overseas Service Ribbon (4), Vietnam Service Medal (2), National Defense Service Medal and the Combat Infantrymans Badge. He was a member of the Fleming Church of God where he was active in the Keenagers. He had also retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a Electronic Technician after 12 years of service.
