GREER, S.C. - Mr. Charles Frank Sloan Sr., 68, of Burns Road, Greer, entered into rest Thursday, June 27, 2002, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. Mr. Sloan, a native of Spartanburg County, was the son of the late Sam Shaw and Jessie Bishop Sloan and was a member of Burnsview Baptist Church. He retired from the U.S. Navy and was a U.S. Forest Ranger and operated C&J Antiques. Survivors include his wife, Joyce L. Sloan of the home; a sister, Francis Cogdil of Enoree, S.C.; two sons, Mark Sloan of Augusta and Frank Sloan of Plum Branch; one daughter, Kim Robb of Plum Branch; one stepson, Tommy Fortner of Woodruff; two stepdaughters, Diann Ball of Woodruff and Ethel Cooper of Greer; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 29, 2002, at 3 p.m., at Burnsview Baptist Church and the body will be placed in state in the church at 2 p.m. The Revs Tim Huckaby and Carroll Caldwell will officiate. Burial will be in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens, Woodruff. Forest Hills Funeral Home, Woodruff, is in charge of arrangements.
