APPLING, Ga. - Mr. George Melvin Paschall, age 68, of Appling, died Monday, June 24, 2002, at the University Hospital. A memori-al service will be held Thursday, June 27, 2002, at 11a.m., at Damascus Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Hester officiating. A native of Washington, Mr. Paschall, at the age of 17, enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He retired in 1970, with the rank of Master Chief after 20 years of service. He had worked for the Cable Company in Brunswick prior to being hired as Chief Engineer by Cablevision of Augusta to oversee the building of the Augusta Cable System. Mr. Paschall became General Manager of Cablevision of Augusta and later of Jones Intercable. He retired from his much loved cable business on December 31, 1996. He was a member of Damascus Baptist Church , an avid golfer and sometimes an avid fisherman. He enjoyed reading, he loved his family and was a devoted husband. He is survived by his beloved wife, Yancey M. Paschall; three daughters, Brenda Paschall Doyle of North Augusta, Patti Paschall James of Washington, Karen Paschall of Martinez; one step daughter, Darcey Jackson McCoury of Alpharetta; one step son, James G. Jackson IV of Woodstock; one sister, Sara Enid Aultman of Albany; and one brother, Thomas Glynn Paschall of Beech Island; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8p.m. at the Funeral Home.
