METTER, Ga. - Mrs. Mattie Blackwell Holloway, 78, of Metter, died Tuesday, at Candler Company Hospital. She was born in Deatsville, Ala., and lived in Augusta from 1953 until 1994, when she moved near Metter. She was a bookkeeper and instrumental in the success of Dr. Foster H. Holloway, DDS Practice. She was a homemaker, avid gardner, fisherman, great cook and mother. She was a member of Metter First Baptist and past member of Curtis Baptist Church in Augusta. She is survived by her husband, Foster H. Holloway of Metter; son, David W. Holloway of Savannah; daughter, Debra H. Manning of Seminole Fla.; brother, Bill Blackwell of Birmingham, Ala.; sisters, Mae Jones of Birmingham, Ala., an Virginia Spradley of Childersburg, Ala.; and five grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, June 20, 2002, at 11a.m., at Primitive Grove Cemetery, near Metter. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2002, from 6 to 8p.m. Remembrances can be made to the American Cancer Society. Kennedy-Morgan Funeral Homes, Inc.
