Submit your work

The Augusta Chronicle is inviting local youths and adults to submit artworks, poems and short essays on the topic What Being an American Means to Me.

We'll award $50 for the best artwork and $50 for the best-written entry in two divisions: adults and youths (age 16 and younger).

Original poems and essays must be fewer than 200 words. Original artworks may be drawings, paintings or photographs. Pencil drawings are acceptable, but colorful works are preferred for best reproduction. Size should not exceed 11-by-17 inches. One entry per person. Submissions cannot be returned.

Entries should include your name, address, and daytime and evening phone numbers. Youth entries also should include the child's age, grade, school and parent's name.

Submissions must be received by Monday. Winners will be notified by phone by June 20.
