NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mrs. Evelyn Decker Alexander, 93, wife of the late William S. Alexander Sr., formerly of the Sterling House of North Augusta, entered into rest Wednesday, May 16, 2002. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 18, 2002, at 11 a.m., from Pineview Memorial Gardens with Dr. James Adams officiating. Mrs. Alexander was a native of Philadelphia, Pa. and had lived in the North Augusta area since 1952. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Mrs. Alexander graduated in 1934 from the Methodist Hospital of Philadelphia as a registered nurse, and continued her nursing career from 1934 until 1950. In 1955 she joined the Savannah River Plant where she later retired from E.I. Dupont in 1974. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, William "Bill" S. Alexander Jr. and Lana Alexander of North Augusta; a half sister, Harriett Blaetz of Pennsalken, Pa.; two grandchildren, Sheri Alexander of New York, N.Y. and Charles "Chuck" Alexander of Atlanta. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 639 Georgia Avenue, North Augusta, SC 29841. Rowland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
