I would like to add my voice to the growing number of people who are alarmed by the loss of our use of natural resources. Much has been written about swimming in the Savannah River. I would like to bring to light another such practice.
Since Avondale purchased Graniteville Co., it has gated off all access to the land there and banned fishing or swimming in the ponds and canals in Graniteville, Vaucluse and Warrenville.
These areas have been home to thousands of hunters, fishers and swimmers for as long as these communities have existed. Our children and grandchildren will never know the joys of using these resources due to the greed and selfishness of a company with no regard for its neighbors' rights.
Surely, there are state or federal laws to prohibit such wholesale shutdowns of natural resources. Concerned citizens, rise up and be counted.
