AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Monday, May 13, 2002, at the V.A. Medical Center, Augusta, Mr. Edward F. Wheatley, 75, husband of Mrs. Elsie Lee Wheatley. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, May 16, 2002, at Westover Memorial Park, with Rev. Clint Elderton officiating. Mr. Wheatley was a graduate of the Academy of Richmond County and a World War II, Navy veteran. He was a self employed general contractor. From the age of 24 Mr. Wheatley had been the builder of many homes and was a swimming pool contractor as well for over 30 years. He was a Christian. Additional survivors include five children and their spouses, James and Kay Buck, Hilton Head, S.C., Lee and Marilyn Wheatley, Evans, Dwayne and Joyce Macintosh, Martinez, Sam and Gabby Wheatley, Hilton Head, S.C. and Dan Wheatley, Pinellas Park, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Rob and Amy Shippy, Savannah, Ben Collins, Charleston, Jonathan Buck, Hilton Head, Michael and Ellie Collins, Milledgeville, Gail Wheatley, Atlanta, Adam and Kelsie Cato, Wilton, Conn., Megan Fitzgerald, Augusta, Virginia and Caroline Wheatley, Edgefield, Daniel Wheatley, Pinellas Park, Fla., Samantha Wheatley, Hilton Head, S.C.; one great-grandchild, Matthew Shippy, Savannah; two brothers, Thomas Wheatley, Evans and Carl Wheatley, Waynesbor; two sisters, Edna Waagner, Austin, Texas and Mary Jane Greer, Atlanta.
