COVINGTON, Ga. - Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Callaway will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at 2 p.m. from First United Methodist Church, Covington. Dr. Don Martin and Rev. Royeese Stowe will officiate. Interment will be in Covington City Cemetery. Mary Elizabeth "Lib" Callaway of Covington died Friday, May 10, 2002, after a brief but courageous battle against cancer. She was born in Demorest on May 5, 1923, daughter of the late Oscar Emil Flor and Minnie Elis Flor. She attended the University of Georgia where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. Mrs. Callaway was married 53 years to the late Ernest E. "Buck" Callaway. During her years in Covington she was an active member of the Covington Garden Club, the Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the D.A.R. for over 50 years. She served on various committees of the First United Methodist Church in Covington and also served as a board member of Community Bank in Cornelia. She was a devoted and loving family person who loved to travel and share travel memories with family and friends. Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Elisa Volpitto, Atlanta and Libby and Dan Lane, Roswell; grandchildren, Nina Volpitto, Scott Volpitto, Catherine Akers, Ryan Lane and Brett Lane; several nieces and nephews.
