EVANS, Ga. - Mr. John Joseph Smith, age 20, entered into rest Thursday, May 9, 2002, at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m., Monday at Platts Belair Road Chapel with Rev. Jeff Flowers officiating. Survivors include his parents, Steve and Jeanette Smith of Evans; his fiancee, Anna Grose of Evans; two brothers, Erik and Clayton Smith and one sister, Nikki Smith all of Evans; maternal grandparents, Ray and Kirsten Bennett of Watertown, N.Y. and Claudie and Michaele Lott of Lawton, Okla.; paternal grandparents, William and Mildred Smith of Brentwood, Md. A native of Lawton, Oklahoma, Mr. Smith was a graduate of Greenbrier High School, Class of 2000. He was an umpire with the Columbia County Recreation Department for 5 Years. He was a student at Augusta State University and attended Wesley United Methodist Church. He was also an Organ Donor. Honorary Pallbearers will be Leron Seale, Aaron Shupska, Carlos Ramia, Jeremy Wells, Andrew Jones, Zack Teffeteller. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Columbia County Advisory Board, P.O. Box 498 Evans, GA 30809, in memory of John Joseph Smith, (Umpire Association).
