NAME: Pete Brodie

THEN: He served as the District 2 Columbia County commissioner for six years until 1999. He was the board's chairman in 1996 and 1997.

NOW: Mr. Brodie is the human resources manager for PCS Nitrogen's Augusta plant and still shows up at political events from time to time.

Senior program

Brandon Wilde will be the local host for the ninth annual National Senior Health and Fitness Day on May 29.

Beginning at 8:30 a.m., participants will join an estimated 150,000 seniors at 1,500 sites across the nation as they walk, dance, play and learn their way to better fitness and health.
