AUGUSTA, Ga. - Alfred L. King, 73, entered into rest Sunday, May 5, 2002, at Burke County Medical Center. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2002, at Bellevue Memorial Gardens with Father John Lyons celebrant. Survivors are one son, Alfred L. King Jr. of Waynesboro; one daughter, Sharon King Drake, Hephzibah; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Ryan Drake, Jessica Marie King, Sarah Leigh King. Additional survivors are five brothers, Bobby King, John King, Eugene King, Paul King and Joe King; three sisters, Edith Foland, Helen Curley and Ethel Slusher. Mr. King was born in West Virginia and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He served in both Korean and Vietnam Wars. Mr. King retired from the U.S. Army as SGT First Class after 26 years of service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 to 8.
