SILVER SPRING, Md. - Entered into rest Thursday, May 2, 2002, Mrs. Harriet L. Smith Brown of Silver Spring, Maryland. Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Paine College in Augusta, Georgia. She began her career as a public school teacher in the Aiken County, South Carolina school system. She received a masters degree from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. and had a professional career at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, Washington, D.C. where she held positions of Biological Laboratory Technician, Electron Microscopist and Microbiologist. Upon retirement from AFIP, she provided nail care service in her own shop in Silver Spring until December 2001. She is survived by one sister, Mary Ellen Terrell, Augusta, Ga.; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Thomas E. (Arrena) Smith, Chevy Chase, Md. and Charles F. (Vivian) Smith, Augusta; three nephews, Dwayne E. Smith, Glendale, Calif., Clifford W. Terrell, Augusta, Ga. and Laurence F. Smith, Atlanta; one niece, Denise S. Thompson, Adelphi, Md.; there are many relatives and friends, especially her dear friend, Debra Banks, Silver Spring, Md. who will miss her greatly.
