MONROEVILLE, Ala. - Mr. Larry Lee "Hard Rock" Highfield, age 61, of Monroeville, formerly of Rome, passed away April 29, 2002, following a brief illness. Mr. Highfield was born on May 9, 1940 in Floyd County, son of the former Mattie Freeman and the late Turner Lee Highfield. He was a graduate of Pepperell High School in Lindale, Ga. Formerly of Rome, Mr. Highfield had moved to Monroeville, several years ago, where he was employed as the Superintendent of the shipping department for the Alabama River Newsprint Company. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monroeville. Mr. Highfield was preceded in death by his father and by a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Dover. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ann Stansell Highfield, Monroeville; his mother, Mrs. Mattie Freeman Highfield; three sons, Kent Highfield, Monroeville, Keith Highfield, and his wife, Brenda, Hephzibah, and Brian Highfield, and his wife, Stacey, Martinez; seven grandchildren, Brandi, Travis, Stephanie, Kelsey, Turner, Sydney, and Larry Chase; four sisters, Mrs. Mildred Kelley, Cedartown, Mrs. Marie Evans, Rosedale, Mrs. Franis Otting, Bunnell, Fla., and Mrs. Martha Ragland, Cave Spring; a brother, Charles Highfield, Rome; nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were held previously in Monroeville, and in Rome. Graveside services were held Saturday, May 4, 2002, in Bellevue Cemetery, Grovetown. Henderson and Sons Funeral Home.
