VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Cliff Kresge holed a 45-foot eagle chip on the second hole of a playoff with Arron Oberholser to win the Buy.com Tour's Virginia Beach Open on Sunday.
"When it got close to the hole, I instinctively put my arms in the air thinking it might go in," Kresge said. "Even if it wouldn't have gone in, I had executed the shot the way I wanted and it was going to be pretty close for birdie."
Kresge, who earned $76,500 for his first Buy.com Tour title, closed with a 1-under 71 to match Oberholser (70) at 11-under 277 on the TPC of Virginia Beach.
Oberholser was lining up an 18-foot birdie putt when Kresge made the eagle chip to end the tournament.
"That shot was ridiculously good," Oberholser said.
Mike Heinen (68) finished a stroke out of the playoff at 10 under, and Jace Bugg (68) and Steven Alker (69) tied for fourth at 8 under.
