LINCOLNTON, Ga. - Mrs. Verna Bowers Fortson, 89, wife of the late Tracy H. Fortson of Goshen Street, entered into rest Thursday, May 2, 2002, at the residence of her daughter, Mary Lehocky of Sunrise Drive, Lincolnton. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, May 5, 2002, at Pine Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Revs. John W. Pike Jr. and John Rhodes officiating. Mrs. Fortson was a retired educator with the Lincoln County School System, a member of Lincolnton United Methodist Church, church choir and the Candler Circle of the United Methodist Women. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Fortson Lehocky of Lincolnton; three sisters, Geraldine B. Bailey of Plains, Lena B. Perry of Evanston, Ill. and Betty Bowers of Saint Cloud, Fla.; one grandson, Alexander Holland Lehocky; two granddaughters, Emily Bowers and Verna Virginia Page. Pallbearers will be Walter Benning, Ronnie Clary, Buddy Dallas, Kevin Edmonds, Ben Fortson, Willie Harris and Jerome Williams. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lincolnton United Methodist Church, Youth Fund, P.O. Box 85 Lincolnton, GA 30817. Friends may call at the residence of her daughter, Mary F.
