RIDGE SPRING, S.C. - Mrs. Laura Mae Lybrand Gregory, age 96, widow of Gyles E. Gregory, died April 16, 2002, at Saluda Nursing Home. Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 20, 2002, at 11 a.m., at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Charles Yoho officiating. Pallbearers will be Woody Gregory, John Gregory, Billy Gregory, Bobby Derrick, Brian Derrick, and Dean Derrick. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service at the church social hall. Mrs. Gregory was born November 11, 1905, in Edgefield County. She was the daughter of the late Levi Oscar and Bessie Alison Gregory. Mrs. Gregory retired from Milliken Textile Industries. She was a life member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by one son, Gyles Edward Gregory Jr. and wife Jean of Ridge Spring; two granddaughter, Mrs. John Moreau (Alison) of Canton, Mrs. Max Parrish (Mary) of Ridge Spring; one grandson, Gyles E. (Liza) Gregory III, Captain, U.S. Army, Hawaii; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mildred Lybrand Smith. She was predeceased by a sister, Minnie Lee Lybrand Gregory; and five brothers, Hopson Lybrand, Hastings Lybrand, Froy Lybrand, Leroy Lybrand and Heyward Lybrand. Memorials may be made to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Cumbee Funeral Home of Ridge Spring is in charge of arrangements.
