NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Yaron Peters hit a home run in the first inning Saturday to help South Carolina beat Vanderbilt 10-1.
Peters' homer highlighted three runs in the first to put the Gamecocks (27-8, 8-5 Southeastern Conference) up 3-0. Justin Harris' RBI double in the top of the sixth scored three of the five runs in that inning to give South Carolina a commanding 8-0 lead over the Commodores (15-14, 3-9).
Vanderbilt's lone run came in the bottom of the sixth on a RBI double by Tony Mansolino.
Steven Bondurant (5-0) got the win, and Jeff Little (4-4) suffered the loss.
