JACKSON, S.C. - Funeral services for Mr. Arthur J. Barnett, 86, of Third Street, Jackson, who died April 11, 2002, will be conducted Monday morning at 11 a.m., from the First Baptist Church of Jackson. Rev. Edward Newsome and Rev. Donald F. Lumpkin officiating. Interment in Southlawn Cemetery with Masonic Rites. Mr. Barnett was a native of Flint, Oklahoma, a member of The Cherokee Nation, having made Jackson his home for the past 47 years. A graduate of Northeastern Teachers College, a former teacher and principal of the Jay Oklahoma Elementary School, he retired from E. I. Dupont Security and Patrol where he was a Captain. Mr. Barnett was a former member of the Jackson School Board. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson and the Baracca II Sunday School Class. Mr. Barnett was a member of the Hopewell Masonic Lodge No. 127 AFM and a Master Mason. Survivors include his wife, Ruby O. Price Barnett; three sons, Ronald D. Barnett, Gerald W. Barnett, and Norman E. Barnett all of Jackson; one daughter, Carol A. Pate, Jackson; three sisters, Grace Bailey, Watts, Okla., Ruby Helton, Chico, Calif., and Wandra Drake, Kingman, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Shannan H. Counts, Keith T. Barnett, D. Renee Rinder, Chenay B. Weyble, Kevin M. Barnett, Clifford W. Hastings, and Nerissa E. Barnett; seven grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Hopewell Masonic Lodge No. 127 AFM and the Baracca II Sunday School Class. Active Pallbearers will be Clifford Hastings, Keith Barnett, Kevin Barnett, Joey Counts, Keir Weible and Jimmy Fincher.
