Dr. Suzanne Ozment has been appointed to the position of vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of South Carolina Aiken.

Master Pontiac-Buick-GMC announced the following people joined the staff as new car sales associates: John Herrera, Jim Richardson and Thomas Sheperd.

Shirley D. Bennings has been named 2002 Instructor of the Year for Augusta Technical College. She is a 22-year veteran of Augusta Tech where she is program director and instructor for the Administrative Office Technology program.

The Greater Augusta Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors was recently honored by the National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors for winning the Louis I. Dublin Community Service Award for five consecutive years. Out of 900 associations, only 33 have achieved this honor for their work in community service.

Local pilot Larry Garner has given more than 300 children free demonstration airplane rides as part of the EAA Aviation Foundation's "Young Eagles" program.

Chris G. Christos, CPIM chapter president APICS CSRA and region IV chapter support for CSRA and Athens, has been appointed to the editorial review board of APICS' Production and Inventory Management Journal.

John Rox, senior mortgage loan officer for Georgia Bank and Trust Co., has been named the bank's top producer for March.

Peggy Jarrett, an agent at Century 21 Larry Miller Realty Inc., ranked 10th in the Georgia region at the Century 21 Regional Awards. Mary Lou Miller, the firm's relocation director, was also recognized as Person of the Year for excellence in Web design.

Convera and Morris Communication Co.'s Morris Digital Library Systems are finalists in the Special "Content Management" category of the Second Annual Portal Excellence Awards at DCI's Corporate and E-Business Portals Conference.

Augusta real estate broker Becki Price Horner, of Sherman and Hemstreet/GMAC, was named 2001 Georgia Businesswoman of the Year by the National Republican Congressional Committee. Sherman and Hemstreet/GMAC announced the following sales professionals attended GMAC Real Estate's recent national convention in Orlando: Tom Horner, Ronald Anderson, Martha Quinn, Claire Willis, Kim Bragg, Jim Hogan, Jim Bible and Frances Harley.

The Augusta Advertising Federation announced University Health Care System's "Defining Moments" TV campaign was chosen "Best of Show" at the Seventh District ADDY Awards. The commercial also won three Gold ADDYs in the Corporate Communications Single TV Commercial category. Other award winners included The Alison Group, which won a Gold ADDY in the Interactive Media Sales Package category for GIW Industries' Transport sales presentation; and a Silver ADDY to Dragonfly Design in the Collateral Material category for "Announcement for Gillian: She's One in a MILLION" birth announcement.
