Mr. Fred Blackmon (BURNETTOWN, S.C.)



BURNETTOWN, S.C. - Entered into rest on Tuesday, April 2, 2002, Mr. Fred Blackmon, of Augusta Road, Burnettown. He was the father of Don Blackmon, of Swansea, S.C., Stan Blackmon, of Beech Island and Jimmy Blackmon of Burnettown; the brother of Irvin Blackmon of Clearwater and Lois Blackmon of Red Spring, N.C. Additional survivors include 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. Blackmon was born in Aiken County to the Dowey and Susan Blackmon. He retired as a foreman for Clearwater Finishing Plant with 47 years of service. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of W.W. II, a member of Mid-Valley Baptist Church and its Mens Sunday School Class and a member of the L.B.C. American Legion Post No.153. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m., in the Mid-Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Bert Baynham officiating. Interment in Langley Cemetery. Mr. Blackmon will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Leon Heath, Don Vickery, Steve Eubanks, Harold Woodward, Steve Boyd and Robert Wilson. Friends may call at the residence of Mrs. Libby Watts, 3081 Augusta Road, Burnettown or on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley, S.C.
