JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- M r. George C. Baxley Jr., 70, died Easter Sunday, March 31, 2002, after a long illness. Born April 3, 1931, in Aiken County, Mr. Baxley was the eldest child of George and Hazel Baxley Sr. He is survived by his loving wife Sue; sons, John Michael McDonald and Rick (Anna) McDonald; grandchildren, Eddie, Eric, Nathan, Samantha, Jake and Kristi; brother, Tillman (Ann) Baxley; and sisters, Pat (Laverne) Crook of Jacksonville, and Elizabeth Williams of Graniteville, S.C.; many nieces and nephews, and many loving friends; as well as his beloved dog, Princess. Mr. Baxley loved cars, and restored, showed and collected vintage autos, especially Cadillacs. He was an active participant in local car shows and associations. Mr. Baxley, a Baptist, will be laid to rest on Wednesday, April 3, 2002, at 11 a.m. on what would have been his 71 birthday. His nephew, Rev. William Crook, will officiate at a celebration of his life during the burial at Riverside Memorial Park. The family requests that remembrances be made to the Kidney Foundation, in lieu of flowers, and wish to express their sincere appreciation to all the doctors, nurses, friends and the caring staff at Community Hospice and the Renal Dialysis Center for the love and care they gave to Mr. Baxley throughout his illness.
