Augusta State's Ricky Buffkin threw a one-hitter in the Jaguars' 9-1 win over city rival Paine College on Monday night at Lake Olmstead Stadium.
Buffkin (3-1) faced one batter over the minimum through five innings and finished with 11 strikeouts and four walks.
The lone hit came off the bat of Brandon Malcom. He doubled home the Lions (22-8) only run in the sixth inning.
Augusta State (25-12) batted around in the second inning, scoring five runs off four hits - doubles by Brandon Sumlin and Chris Cooper - and singles by Matt May and Sam Barth, and two Paine errors.
The Jaguars, ranked No. 22 in the NCAA Division II poll, added a run in the fourth when John Graham hit a home run over the left-center field wall. Graham finished 2-for-4.
Augusta State added two runs in the fifth and one in the seventh and finished with 13 hits.
Paine starter Jeremy Wiggins last 3 2/3 innings, giving up 10 hits and six runs.
