WASHINGTON, Ga. - Mr. Robert A. Turpin, 74, of S. Jefferson Street, entered into rest Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Wills Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be Monday at 3 p.m., at Washington-Wilkes Memorial Garden with Harold Carter officiating. Mr. Turpin was a native of Wilkes County and had lived in Washington all of his life. He was a retired truck driver and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall in Washington. He was the son of the late Frank A. Turpin and Ola Belle Jackson Turpin. He is survived by his wife, Nell Chafin Turpin of the home; one daughter, Carol Thomasson of Washington; one son, Bobby Turpin of Washington; four sisters, Alice Allen of Thomson, Ruth Felder of New Ellenton, S.C., Ethel Harper of Washington and Irene Bailey of Thomson; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Mack Chafin, Ronnie Thomasson, David Chafin, Troy Allen, Dennis Harper and Mike Cushman. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 7 to 9 at Hopkins Funeral Home.
