Why can't more Georgians realize what many supporters of state Senate Majority Leader Charles Walker, D-Augusta, realized long ago? That he's a genuine leader?
There is a reason he was voted back into office in the early 1980s. It is the same reason his colleagues in the Senate have continuously voted him as their Senate majority leader. The man has a plan.
Where would we be right now if Mr. Walker hadn't had the vision and the leadership to lead the charge to consolidate our local government back in the early 1990s?
Who else could've secured the $30 million in state money for Augusta Neighborhood Improvement Corp., the Augusta Golf Hall of Fame, the Springfield Village Park and the Augusta Canal?
It's like that saying, "Lead, follow or get out of the way." Mr. Walker is leading, so follow him or get out of our way.
The Rev. Clarence Grier, Augusta
