Meeting No. 1 Glenn Hills 49, Hephzibah 43 When: Jan. 12

Where: Glenn Hills High School

Recap: Glenn Hills was the No. 1 team in the state, and this was only game between the two where the Lady Spartans were in control for most of the contest. Although Glenn Hills scored just 12 points in the first 15:58, Marian Whitfield hit a half-court buzzer-beater to tie the game going into halftime. The Lady Spartans controlled the momentum the rest of the way as Whitfield scored a game-high 21 points, and Glenn Hills went on a 12-4 run to close out Hephzibah, which was led by Tamara Gilyard's 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Meeting No. 2 Glenn Hills 60, Hephzibah 56 When: Feb. 2

Where: Hephzibah High School

Recap: Glenn Hills entered the game having lost two of its previous three games, but a strong fourth quarter by the Lady Spartans changed that. Tyhiesha Smith hit three 3-pointers and scored 12 points in the final period to help Glenn Hills overcome a nine-point deficit. The Lady Rebels had a 32-19 lead at halftime and a 48-39 advantage with 7:19 left in the game, but Hephzibah coach Wendell Lofton was denied his 500th win.

Meeting No. 3 Glenn Hills 54, Hephzibah 48 When: Feb. 16

Where: Glenn Hills High School

Recap: In the Region 3-AAAA championship game, Hephzibah had its chances to earn the No. 1 seed for the state playoffs. After overcoming a six-point Glenn Hills lead entering the fourth quarter, Hephzibah went ahead 41-39 with a 10-2 run, which was capped by a free throw by Cheryl Hannah. But Marian Whitfield nailed a pair of jumpers and Tyhiesha Smith converted a three-point play to lift the Lady Spartans.
